Trump is now calling Obama the ‘founder of ISIS’, as you already know. Earlier today, Trump told Hugh Hewitt that at least they were discussing his language:
HH: And that’s, I’d just use different language to communicate it, but let me close with this, because I know I’m keeping you long, and Hope’s going to kill me.
DT: But they wouldn’t talk about your language, and they do talk about my language, right?
Trump thinks it’s great that they are talking about his language, but that’s all they’re talking about. They aren’t talking about the substance behind his claim, only his overreaching language which is easily rebuffed.
Just look at these tweets:

CNN chyron just now:
TRUMP CALLS OBAMA FOUNDER OF ISIS (HE'S NOT)

Trump could be smarter and use more accurate language that still gets the media’s attention. For example, he could still say that Obama is partially responsible for the creation of ISIS. He could say Obama helped fund ISIS into existence! Or he could say Obama has blood on his hands for not destroying ISIS.
There are many provocative ways he could make his point without overreaching to the point where all the media has to say is ‘that’s obviously not true’ and move on.
