House Democratic leadership meet with their entire caucus today to discuss fast-tracking a second Trump impeachment before he leaves office in a couple weeks:
NBC SAN DIEGO – Democrats are discussing Friday whether to move forward with the quick impeachment of President Donald Trump if his Cabinet doesn’t try to remove him first, moving swiftly two days after the Capitol was ransacked by a pro-Trump mob.
House Democrats are set to hold a caucus meeting at noon, the first since Wednesday’s harrowing events at the Capitol. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi discussed the prospect of impeachment with her leadership team Thursday night, hours after announcing that the House was willing to act if Vice President Mike Pence and other officials did not invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment — the forceful removal of Trump from power by his own Cabinet.
Rep. Katherine Clark, a member of House Democratic leadership, said procedural moves could allow them to move far quicker than they did on Trump’s impeachment last year. Asked in an interview on CNN’s “New Day” how early the House Judiciary Committee could bring the articles to the floor, Clark said, “as early as mid-next week.”
“I can confirm that we have had discussions about it and I would hope that the speaker would move forward if the vice president refuses to do what he is required to do under the Constitution,” said Rep. James Clyburn, the No. 3 House Democrat, on CNN. “Everyone knows that this president is deranged.”
There is no purpose in doing this when the president has already conceded the election and will be gone in less than two weeks. Seriously, we’re talking 12 days.
But Democrats want to destroy Trump and his supporters and they want his legacy to be that he was impeached twice. And they want to prevent him from ever running for office again, as I noted yesterday.
It’s funny that Clyburn calls Trump ‘deranged’, because they have all been deranged about Trump since he beat Hillary in 2016. Democrats have done everything they can to undermine him and try and force him from office for the last four years.
They want to look like they have the moral high ground, blaming the riot on Trump and impeaching him for it. But they have been perpetrating a coup against him for his entire presidency. Trump may be far from perfect when it comes to being president, but he’s been under enemy fire the entire time and impeaching him with less than two weeks to go just proves how deranged they truly are.
