Pelosi has adjourned the House into recess because of a dumb threat to the Capitol that was slated for today:
MSN – The U.S. House abruptly wrapped up its work for the week because of the threat of violence at the Capitol by a militia group seeking to storm the building, as happened in the deadly siege on Jan. 6.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland notified lawmakers late Wednesday of the sudden schedule change.
The decision was made given the threats on the Capitol, according to a Democratic aide granted anonymity to discuss the matter.
Experts and journalists tracking online chatter among conspiracy-theorist adherents and militant and subversive groups say March 4 had been penciled in practically as soon as the hopes of many such groups were dashed the certification on Jan. 6 of Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump in the Nov. 3 presidential election and then the Biden inauguration on Jan. 20. Trump, in the view of some conspiracy theorists, is the true president and is to be reinstalled in the White House on Thursday, as March 4 was traditional Inauguration Day until the early decades of the 20th century.
The sovereign-citizen movement, experts say, is of the opinion that no law, and no presidency, has been legitimate since the late 1800s. Trump, adherents of that view have told journalists and themselves, will yet be inaugurated, as the U.S.’s 19th president.
The House had been scheduled to be in session Thursday but moved up consideration of the week’s remaining legislative item, the George Floyd Justice in Police Act, to Wednesday night, when it was passed by a 220-212 vote.
Capitol Police said earlier Wednesday that they had uncovered intelligence concerning a “possible plot” by a militia group to breach the Capitol on Thursday.
The reason I call this dumb is because it will NEVER happen. There are said to be around 5,000 troops on the ground in DC and there’s just no way any militia is going to try and breach the Capitol against those odds.
With this many troops, there’s no reason at all for the House to be in recess. But Nancy Pelosi wants to make a big freaking deal about this in an effort to make today about the riot that happened on January 6th.
She is a partisan hack to the core.
