A leak came out last night from Epstein’s autopsy that revealed certain bones in his neck were broken, bones that make Epstein’s death look more suspicious than earlier. At least according to Dr. Marc Siegel:
Here’s the interesting part of what Siegel says regarding the autopsy leak:
The hyoid bone in the neck being fractured and other fractures in the neck make it more likely – and again this is a percentage call – more likely that it was a homicide than a suicide. …I am now more suspicious than ever that this could be a homicide.
Siegel readily admits that even with hyoid break, it could still be suicide and there’s no way to be sure without more information. I would add to that that his suicide was probably irregular because of how we heard it happened in his cell, via his bunk bed or something. Perhaps that’s why the bone was broken?
I’ve seen reports that about 20 percent of suicides have the hyoid bone broken – or 6 percent. There’s no hard and fast rule on this.
But when you put this with the other things we know about the case, that Epstein was taken off suicide watch, that his celly got bail or was transferred, that there was an irregular guard on duty and that both he and the overworked guard fell asleep for 3 hours, that he had sheets on his bed with which he could hang himself – well honestly it just stinks.
But as much as it stinks, we still won’t know with any certainty until more information is published.
For what it’s worth, here’s what a “surgeon-scientist” wrote on Twitter this morning:
The hyoid bone is protected in the front and sides by the mandible and in the back by the spine. It is mobile. Less than 0.002% of fractures involve the hyoid. Only 31 cases of traumatic hyoid fracture other than strangulation have been documented. Jeffrey Epstein aint number 32.

The guy is also anti-Trump, but that doesn’t mean he’s right or wrong here.
