“I can kinda see his point” – Brit Hume BLASTS the New York Times for ‘racist’ Steve King timeline

Brit Hume came to Steve King’s defense tonight over the charge of racism being leveled at him…sorta.

When asked about King’s own defense that he put forth yesterday, Hume said he can kinda see King’s point. But then he said that the juxtaposition of the words in that sentence with white nationalism was just too close for comfort.

He did note that King was on the right track today in voting for his own rebuke.

Hume then went on to blast the New York Times for their article today on all the racist things Steve King ever said, noting that they really weren’t racist. Hume said he might not agree with King’s statement, but said some of them were about Islam and Islam isn’t a race, it’s a faith.

He then explained that journalists should NOT be involved in leveling the racism charge as the NY Times did today — that they should just let Americans decide for themselves what’s racist and what is not.

So in the end, he did defend King over what the NY Times wrote today about his past comments. It wasn’t a full throated defense by any means, but was notably more than we’ve heard from King’s fellow Republicans.
