Elon Musk is doing a Ted Talk today and, of course, he’s getting questions about his bid to buy Twitter.
Musk doesn’t run from it and speaks openly about why he’s purchasing it, noting that it has nothing to do with economics:
Elon Musk expressed doubt about whether he’ll succeed with his $43 billion offer to buy Twitter in his first public comments about the blockbuster deal.

Musk says that he’s not doing this for the money and he’d like to keep as many shareholders as possible under the law. He argues that this is really about the betterment of Democracy here in America and around the world.
Musk continues to expound on this, but also he explains just how transparent he’d like the company to be if he’s able to acquire it, saying that people should know if a tweet has been deemphasized or not and that the algorithm should be open source so everyone can see it.
"I think it's very important for that to be an inclusive arena for free speech… Twitter has become kind of a de facto town square."

Musk really believes in free speech and transparency and makes clear what he believes that entails:

Lastly, Musk was asked if he has a ‘Plan B’ if Twitter refuses his offer:

Musk admits there is a ‘Plan B’, but wouldn’t explain what it entailed when he was asked about it. He says he’ll save that for another time.
He did add to this, reportedly, that he doesn’t like to lose:
Some @Elonmusk notable comments from the TED interview today:
– Musk declined to say what he would do if the Twitter board rejected his offer, but said he had a plan for that outcome, replying “Yes” when asked whether he had a Plan B. He also conceded, “I don’t like to lose.”— Gary Black (@garyblack00) April 14, 2022
