“I don’t want an investigation. I want a coronation of Joe Biden.” – Politico founder and former NY Times journalist on Tara Reade investigation

The NY Times Editorial Board called for an investigation of the Tara Reade sexual assault accusations against Joe Biden, although they laughably suggested the DNC be the one to do the investigation:

In 2018, this board advocated strongly for a vigorous inquiry into accusations of sexual misconduct raised against Brett Kavanaugh when he was nominated to a seat on the Supreme Court. Mr. Biden’s pursuit of the presidency requires no less. His campaign, and his party, have a duty to assure the public that the accusations are being taken seriously. The Democratic National Committee should move to investigate the matter swiftly and thoroughly, with the full cooperation of the Biden campaign.

In response to this editorial, a former journalist from the NY Times Washington Bureau and founder of both Politico and The Hill, Martin Tolchin, wrote in to denounce the idea of an investigation, calling instead for a coronation of Joe Biden:

If you can’t see the tweet, here’s what Tolchin said:

To the Editor:

I totally disagree with this editorial. I don’t want an investigation. I want a coronation of Joe Biden. Would he make a great president? Unlikely. Would he make a good president? Good enough. Would he make a better president than the present occupant? Absolutely. I don’t want justice, whatever that may be. I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance.

Suppose an investigation reveals damaging information concerning his relationship with Tara Reade or something else, and Mr. Biden loses the nomination to Senator Bernie Sanders or someone else with a minimal chance of defeating Mr. Trump. Should we really risk the possibility?

This is the same guy who, in an interview back in 2007, said the media should have been far more aggressive against George W. Bush than it was, saying the media was too gullible and didn’t do its job. Seriously.

If this guy isn’t the epitome of the extreme bias that we see in the MSM, then water isn’t wet.
