Judge Kavanaugh has just released an awesome statement in response to the attempt by Democrats to get him to withdraw.
In short, he refers to the coordinated effort as “smears, pure and simple” and say she will not be intimidated into withdrawing his good name from the process:
I absolutely love that Kavanaugh isn’t going to allow this to melt him into withdrawing. As we’ve seen in the past, pressure campaigns like this have yielded results in the political world, especially when it targets the family.
But I think this is more than about family for Kavanaugh. He plainly says that if something like this is allowed to succeed, it will dissuade good and competent people from service. Meaning he’s not only taking a stand against these smears for his good name, but also to prevent them from being so effective on good people in the future.
