Islamic State in Nigeria beheads Christians in new revenge video

ISIS released a video yesterday from Nigeria showing the beheading of 10 Christians with one being shot in the head that was supposed to have taken place on Christmas Day:

BBC – The Islamic State group has released a video claiming to show the killing of 11 Christians in Nigeria.

IS said it was part of its recently declared campaign to “avenge” the October deaths of its leader and spokesman in Syria.

No details were given about the victims, who were all male, but IS says they were “captured in the past weeks” in Nigeria’s north-eastern Borno State.

The 56-second video was produced by IS’s “news agency” Amaq.

It was released on 26 December and analysts say it was clearly timed to coincide with Christmas celebrations.

Nigeria’s government has not commented on the video.

The footage was filmed in an unidentified outdoor area.

One captive in the middle is shot dead while the other 10 are pushed to the ground and beheaded.

This is a photo of the mostly Christian men who were killed by ISIS. It includes at least two Muslims who were reportedly set free by ISIS:

Here’s a little more from the Daily Mail:

A video released on Wednesday showed 13 hostages, 10 believed to be Christian and three Muslim. ISWAP claimed they spared the lives of two of the Muslims, local media reported.

The deaths came after an earlier video saw the hostages plead with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to negotiate their release.

In a statement, ISWAP said: ‘We killed them as a revenge for the killings of our leaders, including Abu bakr al-Baghdadi and Abul-Hasan Al-Muhajir in Iraq and Syria.’

Based on the Daily Mail reporting it sounds like the one they shot in the head was Muslim, while the other 10 who were beheaded were Christians.

I’m not going to link to the video for obvious reasons.
