“It pains me to see people in this country glorifying socialism” – Co-Founder of Home Depot speaks out AGAINST socialism

Co-Founder of Home Depot, Bernie Marcus, speaks out against socialism in a short new video. In it, he explains to Americans why the free market system has done more for people in poverty than any other system in the world and is also a big reason why Americans are the most charitable people in the world:

While the video isn’t an in-depth defense of capitalism, Marcus hits the major themes quite well.

Here’s a good snippet from the video (via Free Beacon):

“Young people especially have been indoctrinated into believing that free enterprise is immoral because it enriches the greedy and depresses the poor. Even the word ‘capitalism’ is not politically correct to use, but the reality is that the free market system has created the biggest middle class population in the world and while some may say socialism is well-intentioned, the fact is it robs people of their independence, their dignity, and their finances leading to government dependence, suppression of ideas, and lower standards of living for those under its thumb.”

I don’t know how well this will resonate with Americans on the left, but he’s absolutely correct here and you should definitely share the video to as many as you can in hopes that people who aren’t closed off to the truth will see it.

  1. I just had a disgruntled co-worker send me a link at work of all the “evils” of Capitalism. I couldn’t disagree more with what the author had written. I just don’t understand how people can be that stupid or willfully blind.

    1. Envy. The road from poverty to billionaire seems insurmountable, and envious people, having no hope and less motivation, turn to hate for those who have achieved.

  2. I used to work for Mr. Marcus. I used to see him and talk to him. He’s as good and honest and honorable as he can be. I appreciate his message of truth and willingness to share it.

  3. Here’s the reason folks like socialism, Bernie: they hate personal responsibility and accountability.

It’s the same reason they love birth control and abortion. They want to have fun, but not have to face consequences of their actions. They want to be provided for, and they don’t want to have to work for it. They want to put in a token effort, but then be insulated from failure. They want what their neighbor has because they consider it unfair not to have the same.

They want to rely on the collective, rather than take responsibility for being an individual.

And for all the selfishness and greed they accuse the individual capitalist of, they’re the truly selfish and greedy because their plan for livelihood isn’t ambition and drive – but to be a parasite who gets something for nothing.

    1. And yet they’re mad at Trump for colluding with the Russians when they want to be like Russia. Go figure.

  4. It pains me too. When you look at our public education system it’s pretty obvious why they are advocating for socialism. It looks good on paper, but it never works in practice and the only true question is how many people will be killed by it.

  6. So true! And in the words of another man: “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.” (Someone, somewhere pays for it.)

  7. BERNIE!!!! We miss you and can get over giving us Nardelli. I still wear you yelling at me as a badge of honor to my fellow aprons.

  11. Well said Mr. Marcus. Socialism would destroy this country and that’s why we must fight. It would also help if parents taught their children the value of working and making something of your life. You also can’t depend of mom and dad forever because they won’t always be around……….and when the gov’t runs out of other people’s money then you’re stuck.

  12. Trying to tell this to the brain dead generations is a waste of effort. You can’t beat “free s$%t”.

    1. Also, we learned nothing from the story “If you give a mouse a cookie…”

Nor does anyone have the guts to stake their political career on the idea of taking it away.

      1. “If you give a mouse a cookie” is the perfect concept. Even a child can understand…just not socialist adults.

  13. And we’re importing Socialists from South America. They’re totally onboard with Socialism.

    1. And Congress is letting this happen on purpose and by design. Anyone not fighting to put teeth in our immigration laws deserves to be booted out of Congress, Republican or Democrat.
