The radio host known as Charlamagne blasted Biden yesterday for saying that Trump is the first racist president. Below is Biden saying this at an SEIU virtual event:
Charlamagne was furious, not because Biden defamed President Trump, but for another reason entirely:
A co-host of the radio show The Breakfast Club who has become a 2020 election fixture issued a scathing rebuke of Joe Biden after the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee claimed that President Trump was the first-ever racist person elected to the White House.
“I really wish Joe Biden would shut the eff up forever and continue to act like he’s starring in the movie A Quiet Place because as soon as he opens his mouth and makes noise, he gets us all killed, OK?” the radio host said. “There’s already so many people who are reluctantly only voting for Joe Biden because he’s the only option and because Donald J. Trump is that trash.”
“Old, white, male leadership has failed America, and there is nothing worse than an old, white male [who] can’t recognize the faults and flaws of other old, white males,” he added. “Racism is the American way, OK? Donald Trump is not the first, and sadly, he won’t be the last, alright? He’s just more overt with his racism than most presidents in recent times.”
Charlamagne… also said Biden’s comments are “a lie that relinquishes America of all responsibility of its bigotry.” He added: “How the hell can Donald J. Trump be the first racist president in a country where 12 presidents before him owned slaves?”
Biden made the controversial comment during a virtual event for the Service Employees International Union on Wednesday. The United States, he said, “had racists, and they’ve existed. They’ve tried to get elected president.” Biden added, “He’s the first one that has.”
The suggestion that Trump is the first racist president contradicts the view held by numerous activists who have called for removing names and statues of past presidents because of their racist views.
As the Examiner noted, Charlamagne was angry that Biden, by calling Trump the first racist president, was relinquishing America of all responsibility of its past sin of slavery. He called it revisionist history and said it was a LIE.
Of course Charlamagne believes that Trump is a racist president, only that he’s not the first. But it’s impressive at how angry he got over Biden’s comments, arguing that the only thing that will get many to the polls for Biden is their hatred of Trump. He said that enthusiasm for Biden is low and suggested that’s a problem going into November. And this apparently isn’t helping.
