The man who helped bring us a more conservative Speaker of the House explained his support for Governor Ron DeSantis today on Fox News, saying he believes it’s time to have someone who’s not a baby boomer, who serve for two terms and can “beat the swamp that President Trump so ably started when he came in in 2016.”
Roy goes on to detail the governor’s accomplishments and why he would be a great president to root out the swamp that Trump began:
“It’s time to have someone who’s not a baby boomer.”

Roy says “DeSantis has an enormously successful record”, noting that he won 62% of hispanic voters and 50% of single females.
He says Florida has “massive job growth” and a “great economy” and that DeSantis has taken on both the education establishment and the corporate establishment with Disney.
There’s a lot of talk about the ‘endorsement’ right now, as if that’s going to make much of a difference when it comes to voters. It’s fun to think about I suppose, but it’s never really made that much difference when it comes to getting actual votes. Substance is far more important.

After watching more of the interview, it doesn’t sound like Roy is saying Trump started the swamp in 2016. Rather he’s saying that DeSantis can continue the work that Trump started in 2016.
