Jeb Bush: It’ll be tough for a Republican to beat Trump in the primary, but someone should try… [VIDEO]

Over the weekend Jeb Bush told David Axelrod on CNN’s “Axe Files” that he believes someone should run against Trump in the Republican Primary to give Republicans a choice.

In the interview, he was asked whether he thought Maryland’s Governor Hogan would run against Trump. He said he got that feeling after a recent big speech by Hogan that he liked very much, but he wouldn’t go so far as to say Hogan should challenge Trump.

But he did say someone should challenge Trump.

Watch:

Bush admits that it would be very difficult to beat Trump, as he has a very loyal base. But even so he believes someone should run against Trump to give people a choice.

My own thinking on this is that someone will very likely step into the ring with Trump in the primary. But it won’t be a high profile candidate that can actually give Trump a run for his money. Rather it’ll be the milktoast Kasich types, like Hogan, that Republican voters have had enough of and who won’t be able to get any serious traction among the Republican base.

So in the end even if someone does run, I don’t think Republicans will be given much of a choice. So why bother.
