John Fetterman releases doctor’s note, but turns out doctor is a big campaign contributor…

Yesterday John Fetterman released a doctor’s note on his recovery from his stroke, assuring people that he was fit for office.

This comes after an NBC reporter pressed him on why he hasn’t released his medical records, suggesting that people have a right to know if he’s capable of being Senator.

Via Fox News:

Fetterman’s doctor, Dr. Clifford Chen at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, said in a medical report released on Wednesday that the U.S. Senate candidate “is recovering well from his stroke and his health has continued to improve.”

Chen said that while Fetterman’s speech is “normal,” there are “Occasional words he will ‘miss’ which seems like he doesn’t hear the word but it is actually not processed properly.”

“His hearing of sound such as music is not affected. His communication is significantly improved compared to his first visit assisted by speech therapy which he has attended on a regular basis since the stroke,” the letter states.

The doctor added that Fetterman has “no work restrictions and can work full duty in public office.”

But it turns out that Fetterman’s doctor is a big supporter of his, donating over $1300 to his campaign:

Records from the Federal Election Commission show that Chen’s year-to-date donations to the Fetterman campaign amount to $1,330.

Chen made a $100 donation to the Fetterman campaign on Sept. 23, $230 on July 28, and $500 on July 8. He also donated $500 to the Fetterman campaign on June 17, 2021.

The records also show that Chen made a number of donations to the Democratic National Committee, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., and Democrat Florida U.S. Senate Candidate Val Demings.

In total, Chen has donated $2,945 to Democrat candidates or committees in the past year.

Maybe Chen is telling the truth or maybe he’s putting politics over the truth. That’s something the people of Pennsylvania will have to figure out.

But I think the what’s informative is the fact that Fetterman had to be brought to this moment kicking and screaming, and that says a lot about him and this doctor’s note.

Personally, I don’t trust it. There’s simply no way Fetterman would have released a doctor’s note that said anything other than he was fit for duty. And with only a few weeks before the election, that’s pretty convenient.
