Jon Gruden filed a lawsuit against both the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell for trying to destroy his career and reputation after leaking emails that led to his resignation:
Former #Raiders coach Jon Gruden is suing the NFL and Roger Goodell in Nevada district court, alleging they sought to destroy Gruden’s career and reputation through a “malicious and orchestrated campaign” that led to his resignation last month, Gruden’s attorney tells me.

Gruden’s lawsuit refers to it as “a Soviet-style character assassination. There was no warning and no process. Defendants held the emails for months until they were leaked to the national media in the middle of the Raiders’ season … to cause maximum damage to Gruden.”

I’m so glad Gruden is suing and I hope he ends up with Goodell’s job when this is all over. What they did to him was as nasty as it gets and his career and reputation have been devastated by this. Nobody’s going to hire him, whether in the NFL or in sports broadcasting. Nobody is going to touch him.
I still wonder if the owner of the Raiders was behind this in any way, wanting to get out of a 10-year $100 million contract with Gruden after feeling a lot of regret. Just a suspicion of mine because this was very convenient for him.
