Kellyanne Conway has just been subpoenaed by the Oversight committee after Trump blocked her appearance before the committee this morning on violations of the Hatch Act:
POLITICO – The House Oversight and Reform Committee voted to authorize a subpoena for White House counselor Kellyanne Conway after she failed to appear at a hearing centering on her alleged violations of the Hatch Act.
The White House blocked Conway from attending the hearing, prompting the Democrat-led panel to authorize Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) to issue the subpoena.
“Here, we have a clear-cut case of a federal employee violating federal law over and over and over again,” Cummings said ahead of a heated debate between Republicans and Democrats.
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel issued a report earlier this month citing Conway for multiple violations of the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees from participating in political speech while performing their official duties.
Given how Democrats would have just used this hearing to attack the Trump administration, I can’t blame Trump too much for blocking her appearance. Democrats have made clear this year that they are hell-bent on using anything they can to hurt Trump in order to defeat him next year.
According to a CBS News producer, Justin Amash voted with Democrats:
Correcting previous tweet: @justinamash joined Democrats in voting to authorize a subpoena for Kellyanne Conway. He also joined Oversight Democrats in voting to recommend contempt for AG Barr and Commerce Secretary Ross for failing to comply with a subpoena on the 2020 census.

The total vote was 25-16 so it clearly wasn’t necessary.
