KABUKI: Democratic House votes to make Washington DC the 51st state

Democrats in the House just voted to make Washington DC the 51st state:

NY POST – House Democrats riled by President Trump’s handling of anti-police brutality protests voted Friday to make Washington, DC, the 51st state.

The bill passed 232-180 along party lines. One Democrat and the only Libertarian joined all Republicans in opposition. It’s the first time either chamber of Congress has approved DC statehood.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) recently said he won’t hold a vote, effectively killing the bill. Trump told The Post last month that DC will “never” be a state because Republicans aren’t “stupid” enough to add guaranteed Democratic seats.

The capital city is home to roughly 700,000 people — more than Vermont and Wyoming, and nearly as many as Alaska. If it were a state, DC would have one House member and two senators.

First of all this is nothing but Kabuki theater because McConnell isn’t going to budge on it in the Senate. They knew that.

Secondly, this is really about wanting to get two more Democrats in the Senate and another in the House:

He’s right, it’s all about power.

I saw a tweet from this idiot at the Huffpo claiming that McConnell would definitely make DC a state if it meant two more Republican Senators:

I completely disagree. It wasn’t McConnell that got rid of the filibuster of judges that has helped pave the way for so many new federal judges. It was Harry Reid. McConnell won’t even use the nuclear option for significant legislation, like getting rid of Obamacare.

To suggest he would make DC a state if it meant to more Republican Senators is just a liberal journalist crying over the fact that McConnell won’t go along with the Democrat agenda. Also, thanks for admitting this is really what the bill is about.
