Lee Zeldin’s attacker already RELEASED because New York crime laws

We told you last night that Rep. Lee Zeldin, who is running for governor of New York, was attacked last night while on stage during a campaign rally. Thankfully he was not injured in the attack.

Late last night Lee Zeldin predicted that his attacker would likely be released under New York’s liberal crime laws and it turns out he was right:

According to police, the attacker was released on his own recognizance:

“The suspect, David G. Jakubonis, was soon released on his own recognizance after being charged with felony second-degree attempted assault, the Monroe County Sheriff said.”

Felony second-degree attempted assault…but I guess he’s free to try and attack Lee Zeldin again today if he wants. How nice.

I do hope Zeldin will have some lookouts, maybe some police officers in case this guy comes back.

Joe Concha tweeted that this is “everything wrong with the current state of the New York. A lunatic attempts to stab a gubernatorial candidate, gets arrested, only to be “released on his own recognizance.” What an absolute joke.”

As an aside, here’s a closeup of the weapon Jakubonis used in his attack:
