The leftist math genius who thought Bloomberg had spent enough on ads to give everyone in the US a million dollars has now been caught in another failure after misquoting Trump’s earlier comments to governors in order to make him look bad:
Trump told governors this morning they are on their own:
“Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment — try getting it yourselves,” Mr. Trump told the governors during the conference call, a recording of which was shared with The New York Times. https://t.co/K0sont7MBc— Mara Gay (@MaraGay) March 16, 2020
MSNBC has been known to pick up Gay’s tweets, so it’s best we correct this before Brian Williams makes it the subject of his show.
While Trump did say what she quoted him saying, he did not suggest that governors are ‘on their own’. She left out a key part of the quote in her mischaracterization:
NY TIMES – Hours earlier, Mr. Trump told a group of governors that they should not wait for the federal government to fill the growing demand for respirators needed to help people diagnosed with coronavirus.
“Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment — try getting it yourselves,” Mr. Trump told the governors during the conference call, a recording of which was shared with The New York Times.
“We will be backing you, but try getting it yourselves. Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself.”
Trump wasn’t saying governors were on their own. Rather, he was telling them to it’s quicker and cheaper if they can get it themselves, but that he would be backing them as well.
I can somewhat understand Gay blundering the Bloomberg math with her idealistic equations. But just straight lying about what Trump said? Unless she’s applying for a job at MSNBC, it just makes her look evil.
