On Thanksgiving, a man jumped over the White House fence. He had an envelope or notebook in his mouth, was wearing white pants and blue shirt, and had on an American flag as cape. Just before climbing the fence, witnesses heard him say “let’s do this.”
“I just heard him take a big, deep breath and whisper to himself, `All right, let’s do this’ and he took off,” Pena said. “It was chaotic. Everyone around us was yelling and kids were crying. It was pretty unexpected.”
Fence jumper Joseph Caputo remains under arrest Friday and is facing criminal charges.
The White House was on lockdown for about three hours after the incident. The First Family was at home celebrating Thanksgiving.
There’s no word yet on what exactly Caputo had in the notebook/envelope. He is set to be arraigned this afternoon in DC.
