Levin: Supporting Romney in GOP Primary would compromise my principles

Romney has come out today stating that he believes in man-made global warming and that we need to control emissions to help reduce our contribution to it (h/t: HotAir)

Levin has this to say:

So let me get it straight. In Iowa he’s for ethanol subsidies [and] in New Hampshire he’s for controlling man-made global warming. I can’t support this man in the Republican Primary. There’s just no way without compromising all my principles.

Of course if he won the nomination, Levin says he would support him. But he also says he’d support an orange juice can against Obama.

I find it funny there is so much discussion about how we need a candidate who fully supports the constitution and will stick to their morals and principles when the decisions become hard, yet no one has mentioned the one man in Washington who has been preaching these fundamentals for 30 years. No mention of Ron Paul? I don’t understand how people can be so oblivious when an answer to the problem is standing right in front of them.

Ron Paul was talking about monetary policy, liberty, and a strict constitutional interpretation BEFORE it was “cool”, but for some reason people seem to pretend he isn’t a candidate. This website in particular.

I agree with Mark. I couldn’t vote for this man in the primary. He’s an inside the Beltway type. It would be business as usual with him. His chance is over.

Romney has 2 major planks that will contradict and works against his platform policy position:

1) Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGM) – How can Romney justify EPA green energy policy and sell bio-fuel policy to American public? Even Al Gore, the Godfather of Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) has now reversed his position on corn ethanol. Romney sounded very tentative and clueless on the economic reality of energy policy.

RomneyCare – How can he oppose and repeal ObamaCare and yet justify his own RomneyCare?

These two plank straw-man arguments won’t hold up to intense scrutiny in policy debate and it’s going to come back to haunt him. Romney started his announcement on the wrong (left) foot focusing on the non-starter AGW and ethanol subsidies issues.

I don’t even need to listen to these videos because I already know Romney is a Liberaltard. Did I say that right? Libertard…Libtard…Libratard… No matter, he’s an ef-ing liberal. He is NO Republican by any definition of the word or concept. What he is is a joke wanting to take votes away from the real candidates that have YET to announce their run for PotUS.

Romney IS the candidate that the media AND the democRATs want the GOP to run against barry.

It is ALSO the reason I do NOT want the GOP to run Romney against barry.

Global- “whatever you call it this week” is a SCAM. sorry mitt.

Sell you a bridge in brooklyn??

As is OBAMACARE, or ROMENYCARE, whatever you call it.

Libratrard Dem against A RINO.

So we can either be raped out right,…

or be told that we really wanted it, and it’s not REALY rape.

I keep hearing this idea of supporting whoever the candidate is, but I am not buying it.

What do I owe the Republicans if they tell me to vote for this guy?

Even if it costs us the election, would it be worth it to send a message and start a fundamental change by letting the party know that we will choose our own candidates, independents included?

Please Palin RUN! Romney is not the answer. Also, I think those polls that say Romney is leading is to shape public opinion. DO NOT FALL FOR IT! Vote for a conservative!

It’s getting difficult to tell the difference between Obama and Romney.
Both SAY they oppose deficits, both like government-run health care, both “believe in” man-made global warming.

If I were at one of those town hall things and was asking a question, it would be to point out his liberal positions, and then query why should I vote for you when I already have Obama?

A great conversation starter with either a loyal Republican voter or an Obama drone is to ask them to explain any substantial difference between what Bush and Obama have done.

There is not much except the pace and degree in the march to Central Government.

Let’s think about Mitt Romney actually said and the implications of it. Mitt Romney has been against Cap & Trade since the beginning of the debate. The only realistic implication of what Mitt Romney has been saying is that he wants to reduce pollution which is something we all want to do. Look at http://mittromneycentral.com/on-the-issues/cap-and-trade-global-warming/ if you don’t believe me.

Well I pray that this man does not win in the primaries. I think Sarah is gonna run now. She knows that RINOs show their colors before the primaries and she will slide in and show what a true conservative is!

Let this be a shot across the bow to the other candidates. You better have a darn good answer when the liberals press you at the next debate on Global Warming.

I’m with Levin, I can’t get behind Mitt. I was willing overlook the health-care issue but this is a bridge too far.

Uh oh.
McMittens is channeling McCain…and McCain isn’t even dead yet.

What’s next?
Mitt’s plan for Amnesty for illegals?
Of course….and that would be his ‘Ramnesty Plan’.

This is exactly what Sarah Palin was talking about last night in her Hannity interview…(R)Candidates pandering with PC stances.

i don’t know why conservatives keep voting for rino in the general. You are contributing to the problem. We all know RINO will not hold their nose and vote for the conservative. They rather OBama win, so why do we hold our nose and vote for the RINO. A Rino is not going to fix the problem, they will only make things less bad and conservatism get the blame and scapegoated for all the problem. If you’re a principled conservative, DON’T VOTE FOR THE RINO. Let the system die, so a true conservative can come in a fix it. Folks, anyone who come in with a less bad solution is not going to fix it. The system is at a stage that can’t be saved. It can only be abolished and replaced. All that is left is picking up the pieces and rebuilding. US is going to default. Theres no… Read more »

It’s the dolts who are voting for Romney in these polls that need a kick in the pants, Rshill.

Romney has a slim chance of beating O’ShameUs in the general.
I would have to put a clothespin on my nose to vote for him.
But I think a lot of people would stay home…just like they did in 2008.

Romney is a RINO. More of the same under this dirtbag. Granted,he would be a big improvement over OUO,(Of Unknown Origin). But,like Mark states,we need a true conservative to save our Republic. I do like Sarah,Michelle & Mr. Cain. I don’t think anyone of these would cave to the evil bastards behind the curtain.

I hate to say it, but this is the problem with having a mormon in the White House: the guy is gullible and lacks natural scepticism of elaborate belief systems. Anyone who has a good cold look at either mormonism or global warming knows they’re bogus.

But while being a mormon may be a slight positive personally because of the relatively clean living, a powerful leader pandering to the global warming fanatics is very harmful to citizens’ personal liberties and the economy.

I gotta say, I’ve completely written off Romney now, and he was my guy in 2008. I’m stunned he hasn’t come around on the global warming issue.

Allen West is the guy I want to see up against barry. barry’s minions will do their best to protect obama from debate because they know he can’t stand on his own two feet, much less think for himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had an ear plug w/someone feeding him answers because w/out notes and teleprompters he is absolutely LOST. I still want to know why he wrote 2008 in the Queen’s book, was he on drugs? Just spaced out? Plain stupid? What? To not know the year is a pretty big deal. Cognitive testing always asks the date, year, do you know where you are? He never seems to know where he is.

AM I being sarcastic on this? LOL!! We the people must rise up as you say. Too often we accept those who are dismantling America and fail to recognize and support those who can lead the fight back to a Constitutional Republic. I believe we all hold some responsibility for what has befallen America. We have placed our trust in politicians, our schools, our universities and the press. They have all betrayed that trust. Because the press had been integral to hiding this, we seem only to catch on when it is severely broken. But now we have the internet and Barack Hussein Obama bringing the Statist agenda out in the open – right in our faces. So yes, now that we know, we cannot depend on saviors. We must depend upon ourselves and demand the trust returns, and dismantle that which does not. But all that is for naught without leaders who too will call out… Read more »

They’re gonna push Mittens the same way they pushed Bob Dole AND Juan McCain.

We need to overwhelm them at the polls in the primary. A strong Constitutional Conservative is the only way to go. I’m disgusted with Mitt Romney saying that man made global warming is real. Hasn’t he heard of the hoax that has been exposed about this?

Perse, I like to ask people who support him, why they like Romney. I never get much of an answer except that he “seems presidential”.

I think a lot of Republican voters who support Romney are well intentioned but have not figured out that the man is all “image” and no principle. We suffer from decades of the press promoting image while dismissing Constitutional principles of limited government.

Start talking principles and I’ll bet a lot of Romney voters will be open to West and Palin.
