There’s been a dominant question today in the media surrounding Mike Flynn that I haven’t heard much until today. Everybody wants to know if Flynn’s call to the Russian ambassador was his own doing or if he was directed to do it. In other words, did Trump order him to do it.
Here’s Lindsey Graham floating the idea that Trump may have been behind the call:
Senator @LindseyGrahamSC: "I want to know did Gen. Flynn do this by himself or was he directed by somebody to do it? https://t.co/YCzvsj0iJ7

I find this question to be quite assumptive, especially considering we don’t actually know exactly what Flynn said during the call. The transcripts haven’t been released to anyone, including Congress. Heck Graham even admits he doesn’t know what was said.
How is it logical to jump straight to Trump when Flynn may not have done anything wrong?
As Levin pointed out last night, the media never cared so much when it was Democrat Ted Kennedy undermining Ronald Reagan and national security with the Russians. But now that it’s Trump, it’s the crime of the century even though we still don’t know what Flynn said.
I know in the larger context Trump has made some controversial statements about Russia, even recently. But at the end of the day either Flynn did something wrong or he didn’t. To point the finger at Trump without even knowing just confirms we already do know, that this was never really about Flynn, but about attacking Trump.
