Ted Cruz Blasts Joe Biden

LISTEN: Ted Cruz torches MTG’s move to oust Speaker Johnson

Ted Cruz did a podcast interview with Real Clear Politics today and expressed his displeasure with Marjorie Taylor Greene’s move to oust Speaker Johnson.

Cruz calls it counterproductive and sill, adding that there is ZERO chance a more conservative speaker will result from such an ouster.

He lauded Johnson by saying he’s been given an impossible job with a two-seat majority.

Here’s he quote via RedState:

“Look, I think it is silly. I think it is seriously counterproductive. I think Mike Johnson is a strong conservative who’s been given an almost impossible task. He has a tiny majority in the House, just a two-vote majority. That means any three House members run off to the hills and the majority evaporates. And I think Marjorie Taylor-Greene, to try to topple the speaker increases the chances of chaos. It increases the chances of handing control to the Democrats. And there is zero chance a more conservative speaker will result. And so I think what she’s doing is really unhelpful to the country.”

That is the problem with this move. I agree that Johnson isn’t doing a great job and Cruz is right that with such a small majority it’s a very difficult task. But I don’t know what it will accomplish to oust him at this point, especially after what we’ve already seen when it comes to getting enough Republicans to agree on a House Speaker.
