Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger vote AGAINST last ditch effort by McCarthy to get Republicans on Jan 6th Select Committee

McCarthy took one more shot at trying to get the Republicans he’d selected on the Jan. 6th committee, after Pelosi rejected them last week. But his attempt failed and both Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger voted with Democrats:

NEWSMAX – A last-hour attempt to seat Republican members on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Jan. 6 Select Committee was quickly rebuffed by Democrats on Monday night.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., introduced a privileged resolution demanding his five designees be allowed to serve on the Jan. 6 committee on the House floor Monday night.

The motion was immediately tabled by Democrats and anti-Trump GOP Reps. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., and Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., who were both added to Pelosi’s panel that also includes seven anti-Trump Democrats.

The vote to table McCarthy’s motion 218-197, which was all 216 Democrats in the chamber along with just Cheney and Kinzinger.

“For the first known time in the history of the House, the speaker of the House rejected two of the minority leader’s nominees to a select committee,” McCarthy’s resolution read. “Speaker’s Pelosi’s own press office acknowledged that this was an ‘unprecedented decision.’

“Speaker Pelosi’s refusal to seat all five Republican members directly harms the legitimacy, credibility, and integrity of the select committee.”

Speaker Pelosi rejected two of McCarthy’s selections, Reps. Jim Banks, R-Ind. and Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. Leader McCarthy had pulled all his selections and said that his party would not participate in the process unless the speaker reversed her decision.

It made my blood boil when I first heard that Pelosi rejected McCarthy’s picks to be on the committee. But even worse was Cheney and Kinzinger standing with Pelosi against them.

Even if they don’t like Jim Jordan and Jim Banks, they didn’t have to speak out like they did or vote with Democrats today against them. McCarthy has the right to put whichever Democrats he wants on a committee, and they should both recognize and respect his picks.

If the shoes were on the other feet (as we often point out here and I know it gets tiring) and McCarthy was Speaker and rejected Pelosi’s minority picks, there would be freaking pandemonium in the media. Outrage would be all they’d do until the pressure was so great for that McCarthy would have to relent.

But NONE of that has happened with Pelosi’s rejection of McCarthy’s picks. NOTHING. And you know who helped give Pelosi cover? Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who are both Republican traitors in my book.
