This is a perfect example of leading from behind.
In an interview with NPR, Biden’s State Department spokesman threatened yesterday stop the Nord Stream 2 if Putin invades Ukraine:
AXIOS – The U.S. will make sure the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project between Russia and Germany won’t go ahead if Russian troops invade Ukraine, State Department spokesperson Ned Price told NPR on Wednesday.
“I want to be very clear: If Russia invades Ukraine one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not move forward,” Price said in his interview with NPR’s Ari Shapiro on the Putin-backed project.
“I’m not going to get into the specifics. We will work with Germany to ensure it does not move forward.”
Price noted to Shapiro that Nord Stream 2 was not yet operational, which meant it was “leverage for us” and for Germany. “It is leverage for the trans-Atlantic community because gas is not flowing,” he added.
Putin must be quaking in his boots after hearing this. I bet he’s already got his troops headed back to Moscow and he’s preparing to send flowers to Zelensky to apologize for any inconvenience he’s caused over the last year with all of his invasion planning. Yeah, right.
No, this threat by Price is nothing more than hilarious. Biden was the one who enabled Putin to finish building his pipeline, which is the reason Russia’s invasion is about to happen. Now Biden is going to threaten to stop the pipeline if Russia invades? Puh-lease. This is the same president* who backed down from Putin last year after Putin threatened war. This is the same president* who ran from a terrorist organization and left American citizens behind.
Putin isn’t worried about Biden’s meaningless threats. All Putin has to do is threaten war with another country, or even America, and they’ll leave his pipeline alone.
