Lt. General William Boykin weighed in just a few moments ago on what he think of Trump pulling out of Syria soon, and suffice it to say he think it’s a terrible idea.
He explains:
Boykin argues that if Trump pulls out of Syria soon, then he risks completely undoing all that he’s accomplished there. He likens it to our premature pullout of Afghanistan which allowed the Taliban to reemerge stronger than ever.
He also says we’d be ceding territory to the Russia, the Turks, and the Iranians, which obviously we don’t want to do.
Boykin made the point that Trump was very critical of Obama for setting a date on Trump withdrawals of Iraq, as was he, but notes that Trump is very close to doing the same thing. And he believes, in a word, it would be ‘disastrous’.
