Manhattan DA refuses to prosecute anti-Semitic assault by Muslim woman as hate crime

The district attorney in Manhattan is refusing to prosecute a clearly anti-Semitic attack by a Muslim woman against an Israeli student on the subway as a hate crime.

First, here’s Lihi Ahron, the Israeli student, describing the attack and showing video of her Muslim attacker continually saying ‘Allahu akbar’:

NY POST – An Israeli student riding a subway train in Manhattan said she was verbally and physically attacked by a woman who hurled anti-Semitic comments at her and another Jewish passenger — and yelled “Allahu akbar!”

In a video posted after the attack, Lihi Aharon said she boarded the train at Wall Street after her college’s induction ceremony last week and asked the woman if she could remove her bags from the seat next to her.

“No. Nobody sits here,” she quoted the woman, who was identified by police as New Jersey resident Zarinah Ali, 38, as saying.

Aharon said she then sat down across from Ali next to a Jewish man wearing a yarmulke.

“As soon as I sat, that woman started cursing and yelling at him about him being a Jew and ‘Allahu akbar’ and how Allah will end us all,” she recounted in the five-minute video, in which a scratch is seen on her face.

“She didn’t know I was Jewish, of course. I’m not only Jewish, I’m also Israeli, so I took out my phone and started recording her,” Aharon said.

Ali is then seen telling Aharon: “You can record everything you want to sell. Allahu akbar. But you know what they’re going to do? It’s gonna be deleted.”

Aharon said the woman then began yelling and cursing at her, before knocking the phone from her hand, as well as a phone belonging to her friend.

“All of a sudden she grabbed my face. It happened very, very fast so I decided, it’s not happening today and I had to fight back,” she said. “Eventually, that lady found herself outside on the subway station on the floor with all her belongings.”

The Muslim woman was arrested by police after it happened.

But today it’s being reported that the district attorney’s office is refusing to prosecute the attack as a hate crime:

FREE BEACON – The Manhattan district attorney’s office has declined to prosecute a recent anti-Semitic attack on a Jewish subway passenger as a hate crime, according to lawyers representing the victim.

Lihi Aharon, an Israeli student riding the New York City subway in December, was attacked by another passenger who cursed at her and yelled “Allahu akbar!” While the attack on Aharon seemed to be motivated by anti-Semitic animus, the Manhattan DA informed lawyers representing Aharon on Thursday that it would not prosecute the case as a hate crime.

Ted Cruz responded to this saying that it’s indefensible: “If true, this is indefensible. Antisemitism is wrong, a pernicious evil, and we should be united against it.”

It’s so ironic. Every crime is really a hate crime, but Democrats wanted to be able to prosecute crimes like this as ‘hate crimes’. So they finally passed legislation allowing for hate crimes prosecution, and here in a clear hate crime, they won’t do it.

Could it be because the woman attacker is blatantly Muslim? I suspect this DA and Nancy Pelosi have a lot in common when it comes to condemning anti-Semitism.
