5,300 New York City police officers retired or quit the NYPD last year. That’s up 75% from the previous year. SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT. In their story, the New York Post poses the question “Are NYPD officers rushing to retire amid city’s anti-cop climate?”
Is that a real question? OF COURSE. People are trying to TRAP cops and take them out.
What did people expect? There’s a mass exodus.
“Cops are forming a conga line down at the pension section, and I don’t blame them,” said Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and an adjunct professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
“NYPD cops are looking for better jobs with other departments or even embarking on new careers,” he added.
Police Benevolent Association President Pat Lynch told the New York Post that with previous budget cuts, the loss of plainclothes units, and now the vote to end qualified immunity, “the Mayor and City Council are absolutely trying to abolish the police.”
“They’ve kept our pay absurdly low. They’ve ratcheted up our exposure to lawsuits. They’ve demonized us at every opportunity. And they’ve taken away the tools we need to do the job we all signed up for, which is to keep our communities safe,” he said.
It’s completely acceptable, and called “mostly peaceful”, to march through the streets saying to KILL cops, to carry signs inciting violence and calling cops “terrorists.”
Even Rep. Maxine Waters, a member of congress, can directly threaten retribution against cops by the mob and nobody even criticizes her in the press.
Of COURSE that is why they are getting out.
They can’t even SAVE A BLACK TEENAGE GIRL’S LIFE without being targeted by pro athletes and the mob.
OF COURSE they’re leaving. Wouldn’t you?
