Matt Gaetz hires legal team to fight sex-trafficking allegations

Rep. Matt Gaetz has now hired a legal team to help him fight back against the sex-trafficking allegations being lobbed against him:

NY POST – Embattled Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz has hired a legal team to fight what he believes are “unfounded allegations” of sex-trafficking and prostitution against him, a spokesperson said Friday.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Gaetz, a Republican, said he’s hired New York attorneys Marc Mukasey and Isabelle Kirshner, who will, “take the fight to those trying to smear his name with falsehoods.”

“Matt has always been a fighter,” the spokesperson added.

“He’s going to fight back against the unfounded allegations against him,” they added.

Gaetz is reportedly under federal investigation for a host of allegations, including whether he had sex with a 17-year-old girl and paid for her travel across state lines.

The New York Times reported last week that investigators are also probing if Gaetz paid prostitutes for ecstasy-fueled sex romps set up by his friend and political ally Joel Greenberg.

The feds have charged Greenberg with sex trafficking and other crimes, and he has reportedly struck a plea deal with authorities in his case. The federal probe into Gaetz grew out of the investigation into Greenberg, the Times reported.

There have been other Republicans who claimed they were innocent and weren’t, like Duncan Hunter. However, I’m still on the side of giving Gaetz the benefit of the doubt, especially while Trump hater Rep. Kinzinger is already throwing him under the bus.
