Media lies about Biden’s confrontation with Republicans over Social Security and Medicare

We all saw the exchange last night when Joe Biden claimed that Republicans wanted to end Medicare and Social Security.

Republicans responded in an uproar to Biden’s claim.

This is being spun today by Axios as Biden ‘baiting’ Republicans in order to get them to agree not to touch Social Security and Medicare:

Biden used much of his speech to emphasize what Americans can do when they work together — while also baiting Republicans to agree with his push to protect Medicare and Social Security as Congress weighs budget cuts.

Biden seemed to anticipate — and relish — the jeers from some Republicans when he questioned their commitment to Medicare and Social Security during upcoming budget talks.

He dared them to “contact my office” for proof that some Republicans had discussed cutting the safety-net programs — and that if everyone agreed they shouldn’t be cut, they should “stand up for seniors.” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and his fellow Republicans then joined Democrats in doing just that.

“I enjoy conversion,” Biden joked.

This is garbage. Biden didn’t bait Republicans, he LIED about them to the American people and Republicans responded in a uproar to set him straight.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy had already taken Medicare and Social Security off the table and Biden knew this when he started spewing these lies.

But the garbage media, like Axios, is spinning this as a victory for Biden, as if he managed to get Republicans to agree to protect Medicare and Social Security when in reality Republicans had already agreed to do this and it was Biden who was lying about it.

And by the way, when Biden said ‘I enjoy conversion’, he meant to say ‘I enjoy conversation’. It was in reality another Joementia moment.
