So the media is pretty obsessed with this tweet from Trump making fun of Greta Thunberg.
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1205100602025545730Now I don’t think it was a wise tweet, but it’s also just not that big a deal. But it is a big deal of course, if you’re looking to criticize Trump for any possible thing you can find:
Yeah don’t even watch that whole thing it’s pathetic. They’re trying to compare the outrage over a Democrat witness making a joke with Barron’s name, and the joke that Trump made with Greta. Honestly, all of the outrage is just stupid.
But there is one clear point that can be made here that was made by Melania’s spox Grisham:
“Be Best is the first lady’s initiative, and she will continue to use it to do all she can to help children,” Grisham said in a statement to CNN on Friday. “It is no secret that the president and first lady often communicate differently — as most married couples do.”
“Their son is not an activist who travels the globe giving speeches. He is a 13-year-old who wants and deserves privacy.”
She has a point. You just can’t compare Barron, who just happens to be the son of the president, and Greta, who has made herself into a public personality. That doesn’t mean you can treat her like crap, or that you should be immune from criticism when criticizing her, BUT, there is just no comparison between the two.
