Mexican president ALREADY hinting at CAVING to Trump’s tariffs!

The president of Mexico already said that they’re looking at making concessions to Trump’s demands in order to avoid the threat of tariffs.

Trump tweeted about it this morning:

From CNBC:

Mexico’s president on Saturday hinted his country could tighten migration controls to defuse U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on Mexican goods, and said he expected “good results” from talks planned in Washington next week.

The tariffs are set to start in June, and they are already hopping to avoid that.

More:

In a news conference in the Gulf of Mexico port of Veracruz, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Mexico could be ready to step up measures to contain migration in order to reach a deal with the United States.

A Mexican delegation led by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard will discuss the dispute with U.S. officials in Washington on Wednesday, and Lopez Obrador said he expected “good results” from the talks, and for a deal to emerge.

“The main thing is to inform about what we’re already doing on the migration issue, and if it’s necessary to reinforce these measures without violating human rights, we could be prepared to reach that deal,” Lopez Obrador said.

On the other hand, he was a little more combative in another media event.

Watch below:

I’ve said before I’m against tariffs usually, I think it’s dumb to tax your own citizens more in order to hurt a foreign government, and it just ends with trade wars. BUT I’ve also said that Trump is right in believing that we have a lot of leverage with Mexico. We can hurt them with a trade war a lot more than they will hurt us. It’s also stupid to say that we won’t be hurt economically, of course we will. But here’s a sign that Mexico also understands the stakes at hand, and are willing to concede in order to mitigate the immigration crisis at our border. And that would be a huge win for Trump and America.
