Michele Bachmann Speech and Q&A at Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition

Tonight Michele Bachmann spoke at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition and then answered a few questions from a panel. I’ve split the Speech from the Q&A and both are below.

And BTW, Cain tried recently to say both yes and no to abortion, in the same interview within just a minute or two, with no intervening topic. His two-faced, hypocritical, cynical, vote-hustling response was so obvious and so stupid that one of the two interviewers just sat there stunned into silence with his mouth literally hanging open. This is the kind of dumb mistake that obama would use to shred Cain. Scoop posted this interview. I hope conservatives and Republicans paid attention to that blatant and foolish hypocrisy. What Cain did in those few minutes was prove that he can’t be trusted. Furthermore, this fits with Cain being a businessman. Amoral businessmen do or say whatever it takes to raise profits. Amoral politicians do or say whatever it takes to get votes. Neither can be trusted. Cain has merely switched arenas. In business, he looked good because he was measured… Read more »

I trust her. Obama does the ‘I’ all the time. It’s an extremely poor way to address a nation. Once, maybe, twice ok, but not more. I’m not a Christian but I value the bible. She is pandering and desperate but she is also right.

I like Bachmann, but I don’t think she should be President. Speaker of the House, yes. President? No way.

She gave good answers however, during the debates she has showed too much pettiness.

I had to stop the first video at 1:17 and then jumped to the second video which I stopped after 2:53. Michelle is a solid congresswoman, yet she turns me off because her voice is so annoying! Sorry Michelle – I love you in your current role in congress, but I’m confident the election would be lost to Obama if you were the Republican candidate.

How do you like obama’s voice?

Representative Bachmann is the candidate the Left is most afraid of, count on it.

Thats crap.
Bachmann relies on lies and pandering too much to get ahead.
Bachmann is going to be voted out of her seat, and probably by a democrat who paints her up to look like the most dishonest and ignorant on the subjects she is speaking about.
The best thing in the world she could do for the Conservative movement and he Tea Party would be to resign and get out of politics and name a strong conservative to replace her.

“Pandering”. You mean like to the people she represents?

We’ll see, but if the Conservatives don’t support her, they aren’t Conservatives. By definition.

I missed that.
Where is the definition on conservatism “Only those who support bachmann”
Looks like you got about 4% there.

OK, maybe that’s a harsh or sloppy statement. Here’s my reasoning: IMO, Representative Bachmann is the most consistent and thoroughly conservative of the candidates. Therefore I don’t understand why a conservative would support another candidate. Therefore etc.

Here is why I will not. She is clueless about the border and more interested in pandering with an impossible to win plan. Her initial plan called for one border wall and “redeployment of troops” from south korea to South Texas. Border fence was approved about 20 years ago… where is it at? Yeah. So here we are today with her and her fence and redeploying troops… thats going to fly through congress with no hickups? right. IN the last debate Perry was asked by cooper if he could ever see a fence happening. He stated, sure give us 15 years and 30 billion dollars. Give Perry that money you will get fencES in the right places and man power to back them up. Perry is the only one who actually researched the time and cost of such an under taking. http://www.globalsecurity.org/security/systems/mexico-wall.htm Immediately after he stated accurately 15 years and… Read more »

You make some good points, which I need to think over and research a little. Thanks for a solid answer.

The only comment I ever heard – saw a brief video clip – from Perry about the border fence was “Ahh, that’s a lot of crap!”

My feeling is, if we aren’t capable of building and manning a fence across our own border, we darn sure have no business trying to nation-build around the globe. If we need the funds and manpower that we’re spending on foreign wars to do it, then we need to bring them home and do it, otherwise we won’t have a nation much longer.

Alright. I’m back in town and have the time. Thanks for sending me the link. I don’t think it’s accurate to say that Bachmann is “clueless about the border” – she does know there has to be a wall. I could not find a reference to a border fence being approved 20 years ago, which wouldn’t have anything to do with Bachmann anyway. Per Senator Jim DeMint at http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=37025: The legislation to build a wall – a double wall – was supported by obama (naturally) and signed into law by Bush in 2006, and a 2007 amendment killed the double-wall design. I don’t see how Bachmann is to blame for the current absence of a wall. You didn’t say that, but it seemed a logical inference from what you said. As for a plan “flying through congress with no hiccups”, when has that ever happened? Is that a reason not… Read more »

I don’t see how Bachmann is to blame for the current absence of a wall. My point is that the wall has been approved in the past, budgeted already cost us billions.. and yet still isnt here. Now all of a sudden like a case of herpes here comes the wall idea again. Been here done that where are we? But bachmann is going to make everything that hasnt happened possible now with a wave of her little “I know everything” wand. Give Bachmann that money and you’ll have a double fence and no instate tuition to act as a magnet for illegals. Per federal law she can not prevent illegals from going to college, so no instate tuition means that when they do they are going to cost even more tax dollars via grants and scholarships to educate. OR they will not go to college. And stay on welfare… Read more »

I went to the links you posted about the gardasil / hep B issue. I have to agree with your attitude toward Bachmann on this issue. Still no reply from her website, and I don’t expect one. Too bad. She traded a few immediate points on this issue for a significant chunk of her credibility. Worse, she drew attention to her own complicity in the same conduct she complained of in Perry. I see no way to avoid that conclusion. While I don’t like it, I have to thank you for drawing my attention to it. I prefer a painful truth to a pleasant lie. I do have some follow-up on your last post in this thread, but I’m not sure now how much difference it makes, honestly. So here are my thoughts if you’re interested. This will be my last post on this thread. Thanks for the dialogue, EMT.… Read more »

We are in agreement on pretty much everything you have stated and now you have a clear understanding of where I come from (whether you agree or not) when I say that bachmann is a toxic cancer to the conservative and TEA party movement. She is a pandering lying hypocrite that will be used as a weapon against both movements. My fear is that she will not resign her seat and will lose her next election to a liberal socialist who points his finger at her and paints her as a hypocrite over her comments. Regarding Perry and the Dream Act. Yes it is all his baby, he owns it in the media and on stage when it is used to attack him. However I do not see that he had much choice when the bill came to his desk with 99% behind it and it does not give tax… Read more »

Pretty good speech. She really needs to keep that Jonathon story for church appearances. Yeah, I know this was a faith and family forum but she needs to realize it makes her look like a nut and stop telling it when there’s a camera running.

Michele Bachmann is torrid, tempestupus, tantalizing. Love that softly-scented long auburn hair falling to her slender shoulders. She is exquisite!

And that qualifies her to be President? Shallowness like that can only come from a dem.

Your reply sounds like you should be spending your time watching porn. It has no place here, unless you are a troll looking for any way to damage a candidate’s credibility, even by association with your own lust.

Drop dead.

It’s called staying on message. See Art Telles post above for substantive nature of her campaign. We are wonks so we have heard it many times. She is reaching new people each time. They are hearing it for the first time.

I had to turn it off when Michelle started in on her usual pleading and trying to convince people of herself. Too desperate, and then I turned back on but was still on preaching about the Book of Samuel. It was grating and made me feel stressed for her. It is very sad when someone is straining for that which is not unfolding. There is much to be said about discerning God’s will, and this goal she has does not seem to be unfolding as her current destined job for God.

It’s very sad when people refuse to see the solution to the nation’s problems when it’s right in front of them. And if you were acquainted with the Bible, you would see that the ease of accomplishing something is not a reliable indicator of whether or not it’s God’s will.

Actually, I am a Biblical scholar and student of theology. It is not a matter of the difficulty or ease of accomplishment, but of knowing how to discern when the doors are not going to open, no matter how hard one pushes. God has always a plan for those who seek His will, and pushing harder is not necessarily and indicator that He will reward what the person wills and desires, no matter if it seems a wonderful thing to the person wishing it. I know this from life, personally. Willing and wishing and striving is not in direct correlation with God’s granting it. However, life does require striving and struggling in times of trial. This will all unfold for Michelle. I simply hope it will not unfold in a way that she is devastated. However, that can be God’s allowance. Or, perhaps, as you suggest, she can strive and… Read more »

I listened to her Q&A and her policies sounded like those of Sarah Palin, even in bringing up ANWAR! However, she is not Sarah and she desperately need traction! Adopting Sarah Palin’s views about energy independence is quite something when you are not exactly the author of those common-sense solutions!

Do you think that one should never implement any ideas but one’s own? Sarah Palin quit – again. Her ideas shouldn’t be discarded just because she quit.

If only she could get some traction…..! She is an IRS Litigator, she knows better than any of the candidates in the field what would work best for the country in terms of growing the economy! Oh, Michelle, will the USA have a woman President someday??

Everything with Michele is I, I, I… Good grief. But this speech from Michele shows why Cain is doing well. He is simply a great speaker. It seems in this series there are no teleprompters, so the candidate are giving speeches by heart. Cain was excellent. Michele sounded as if she was rambling and sounded like a politician, instead of delivering a message. Cain is different and people are responding to that difference.

You missed a few words. Everything with Representative Bachmann is “I HAVE DONE, I HAVE VOTED FOR, I WROTE THE BILL, etc, etc, etc.” She is telling everyone who is willing to hear truth that she has the track record, and that she is 100% consistent.

There is no reason that this woman should not already be the first choice of voters. She is the most dedicated, tenacious, consistent of the primary candidates by a long, long way.
