The outrage over Michelle Wolf’s attacks on Sarah Huckabee Sanders has been trending all day and there are a few developments.
Wolf is doubling down and defending herself against claims she mocked Sanders’ looks – one angry liberal about this is Mika Brzezinski:
Watching a wife and mother be humiliated on national television for her looks is deplorable. I have experienced insults about my appearance from the president. All women have a duty to unite when these attacks happen and the WHCA owes Sarah an apology.
— Mika Brzezinski (@morningmika) April 29, 2018
The WHCD should be about honoring the best in journalism. Enough with the comedians, enough with the late-night parties. These are serious times for both the free press and the public they serve.

Women who use their government positions to spread lies and misinformation deserve to face the same withering criticism as men. But leave our looks out of it. Watching from home, I hurt for Sarah, her husband and her children.
— Mika Brzezinski (@morningmika) April 29, 2018
But, Wolf points out that her routine hit Sanders for lying, not for her looks, just that she mentioned her makeup:
Why are you guys making this about Sarah’s looks? I said she burns facts and uses the ash to create a *perfect* smoky eye. I complimented her eye makeup and her ingenuity of materials. https://t.co/slII9TYdYx

Some are taking this to mean she was actually making fun of Sanders looks. And that is NEVER ALLOWED, NOT EVER EVER…
Magpies Haberman also praised Sanders:
That @PressSec sat and absorbed intense criticism of her physical appearance, her job performance, and so forth, instead of walking out, on national television, was impressive.
— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) April 29, 2018
And Wolf responded to that:
Hey mags! All these jokes were about her despicable behavior. Sounds like you have some thoughts about her looks though? 😘 https://t.co/JRzzvhBuey

But Mika wasn’t the only liberal offended by Wolf’s jokes. There are more:
Apology is owed to @PressSec and others grossly insulted ny Michelle Wolf at White House Correspondents Assoc dinner which started with uplifting heartfelt speech by @margarettalev - comedian was worst since Imus insulted Clinton’s

Some of the jokes were funny. Making fun of women for their looks is not. Ever. Under any circumstance. #WHCD https://t.co/7IapJRpIrV

It was uncomfortable sitting through the comedian’s attacks.

But I can’t imagine how it must’ve felt to be on the receiving end of those attacks (not jokes).
Highlight for me last night? Hearing about the incredible scholarship winners and the courageous war journalists. #WHCD
The MOOCH earlier called it an ATROCITY!!! Some people thought I was excusing her actions in our previous post. I’m not. I just can’t get outraged about it. The people who are feigning offense at her insults defended Trump with every insult he tossed at anyone he wanted. Does anyone actually have any standards or is it all political tribalism? I’m guessing the latter, and I’m not participating. You can outrage all you want about that.
To offer the witless tribalist counterpoint to my opinion, here’s a hopeless moron:
ON the other hand, Jonah Goldberg says the episode was a complete gift to Trump and his supporters:
"The institutional narcissism that was on display last night from the correspondents dinner, I think, was a gift to President Trump," says @JonahNRO
