Michigan Gov says her coronavirus authoritarianism doesn’t matter because it’s snowing…

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has used the coronavirus pandemic to become the left-wing authoritarian she’s always dreamed of becoming. And now she’s justifying it in the most absurd way, suggesting it’s ok because the heavy snowfall they are expecting will force people to stay at home anyway.

Watch:

In case you don’t remember, Whitmer was the governor who gave the very forgettable Democratic reply to Trump’s fantastic SOTU address. Here’s how she is using the pandemic to lock down her state:

She’s banned all gatherings of any size and for any reason, even in the private homes of her constituents. And If people own more than one home, like a vacation home or a cabin up north, she’s banned travel to those secondary homes.

She also banned the selling of any non-essential goods in what few stores are allowed to remain open. Of course these are goods that she has deemed non-essential. And her order tells people that if they have to go out for groceries or essential items, to limit the number of trips they have to make.

While allowing people to “engage in outdoor activities like walking, hiking, running, cycling, kayaking, canoeing, or any other recreational activity”, her order makes clear that “travel for vacations or for any other purpose is prohibited”.

Needless to say she’s gotten a lot of backlash from constituents, which is why she’s doing interviews like the one from this morning where she attempts to justify her actions with snow.
