Monday Morning Matinee: The First 1000 years of Christendom

It’s been quite a while since we had a matinee post and yes, Monday isn’t the day that one might normally choose for a matinee. However I just watched this documentary yesterday and thought it was so good I wanted you to see it.

The downside is that this documentary runs 3 hours long. The reason for this is that it covers nearly 1000 years, from the time just after Christ’s resurrection to 1000 AD.

That’s a huge time commitment – I know – but I assure you it’s worth it, especially for those unfamiliar with Christian history.

As a side note, the documentary was on TV back in 2001 as a mini-series. I believe it was produced for A & E.

So without anymore delay, you can watch the first 1000 years below:

I should note that there is also part two, which would be the second 1000 years. I didn’t have time to watch that, so I didn’t want to post it yet.

Also, be forewarned: this is not an open thread. It is only for the discussion of Christian history. So no political discussions of any kind or they will be deleted. I mean really, don’t we all need a break from politics every once in awhile?
