The left is exuberant over a ruling today from the state of Montana where a judge ruled the state has an obligation to consider climate change in its energy plan because of the emotional toll it takes on the children….or something.
Here’s the Wapo’s tweet about it:
Breaking news: In the first ruling of its kind nationwide, a Montana state court decided Monday in favor of young people who alleged the state violated their right to a “clean and healthful environment” by promoting the use of fossil fuels.

The second part of the tweet reads: “The court determined that a provision in the Montana Environmental Policy Act has harmed the state’s environment and the young plaintiffs, by preventing Montana from considering the climate impacts of energy projects.”
Don’t bother reading the article. Here’s a better breakdown of this decision below:
How insane is this ruling?
Well. The judge thinks a five year old has standing because of their “feelings like loss, despair, and anxiety”, “stemming from the effects of climate change” https://t.co/KJGop13QTk pic.twitter.com/wD2YTz5KYG

Nevermind that nobody can even quantify the effects of man made climate change. On anywhere, let alone Montana. But the effects of this unquantifiable damage on the emotions of actual children…just wowie lol.

When the suit was filed, one of the plaintiffs was two years old.
Two. Years. Old.

I sh*t you not, @ryandbusse’s kids were granted standing because climate change made their pollen allergies worse and they apparently can’t ski as much 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/Ed805u9a0q

Giorgianna Fischer was granted standing because she’s a competitive Nordic skier and climate change reduced her opportunities to compete. And somehow she suffered nosebleeds from….the heat? pic.twitter.com/EKhVio4nmN

Kathryn Gibson-Snider (hyphenated and from Missoula of course) was granted standing because one of her “environmental community education events” was canceled due to wildfire smoke. She also is concerned about bringing kids into this apocalyptic world. pic.twitter.com/wuVl87DZwQ

Olivia Vesovich (also Missoula) was granted standing bc “there are days when Olivia feels paralyzed by the impacts and threats of climate change and she fears that it is too late to address climate change.”
