El Trumpo signalled his great admiration and approval for his pal, and yours, Vladimir Putin, when he was asked about his history of occasionally assassinating political rivals and journalists on a whim.
He made the comments earlier today on Morning Joe:
Just in case you missed it:
Scarborough: “Well, I mean, it’s also a person who kills journalists, political opponents, and invades countries. Obviously that would be a concern, would it not?”
Trump: “He’s running his country, and at least he’s a leader. Unlike what we have in this country.”
Scarborough: “But again: He kills journalists that don’t agree with him.”
Trump: “I think our country does plenty of killing, also, Joe, so, you know. There’s a lot of stupidity going on in the world right now, Joe. A lot of killing going on. A lot of stupidity. And that’s the way it is.”
Previously, it appeared that el Trumpo seemed to say that it wasn’t a big deal when Putin shot down a civilian airliner in Ukraine. I guess journalists might think about upgrading their life insurance policies if he gets elected…
UPDATED (TRS): Trump did go on to condemn the killing of journalists after being asked directly about it as you can see in this longer clip:
Still, he could have had a better answer when it was asked the first time. Saying we kill people too was just a ludicrous thing to say. Trump is clearly not always good on his feet.
