MSNBC moron claims Capitol riot was much worse than 9/11

Former ABC News Political Analyst Matthew Dowd was on MSNBC yesterday and made the most absurd comment about regarding the Capitol riot being worse than 9/11:

Here’s what Dowd said after quoting Lincoln, who he claims said “America would never be destroyed from outside, America will destroy itself.”:

If you think about this, what would’ve happened if after 9/11 we had done nothing? … Think about it. And to me, though there was less loss of life on January 6th, January 6th was worse than 9/11 because it’s continued to rip our country apart and give permission for people to pursue autocratic means. So I think we’re at a much worse place than we’ve been… I think we’re at the most perilous point in time since 1861 and the advent of the civil war.

I can’t believe he said “though there was less loss of life on January 6th”. That is the understatement of the century. In reality, almost 3,000 people died on 9/11 and only one died because of the Capitol riot. Only one, and it was a rioter. To gloss over this the way he did, just so he could make his point, is disgusting.

But then he takes it a step farther and suggests that if we did nothing after 9/11, we would have been fine. The Capitol riot, however, was worse because “it’s continued to rip our country apart and give permission for people to pursue autocratic means”. I don’t even know what that means. The riot happened and it’s over. It was over on that day. There are no continued attempts to riot at the Capitol. The election happened and Biden is in the White House.

Yes, there are new state election laws and election audits happening around the country, but these are not tearing our country apart as Dowd suggests, and it has nothing to do with autocracy. Dowd is just a ridiculous leftist who thinks the sky is falling because states want to ensure that these pandemic election policies die with the pandemic and that, via these audits, they root out election fraud that we all know happened.
