Muslim group begins their own “Community Patrol” in New York

A Muslim group is now beginning their own Muslim Community Patrol organization in New York to protect Muslims from hate crimes.

NY TIMES – Mr. Ali is among the first 30 members of the all-volunteer Muslim Community Patrol & Services that is preparing to operate in neighborhoods in Brooklyn, with a goal of growing its fleet of two cars to five by the end of the month and eventually expanding citywide. The group recently held a training led by off-duty officers from the Police Department’s 72nd Precinct.

“It’s like a neighborhood watch but on steroids,” said Noor Rabah, the group’s 31-year-old vice president who lives in Sunset Park.

As word of the new patrol has begun to spread, the backlash has been swift, even among some members of the Muslim community who have criticized the lack of information, and even questioned the need for the patrol.

This is concerning.

Yes, I know there’s a Jewish group called the Shomrim that patrols Hasidic neighborhoods. They’ve been around for many decades and were created in a time when the NY Police Department was very unresponsive. But these days they really aren’t necessary like they were back then because the NYPD has improved drastically in the last 20-30 years. In fact if it weren’t for the fact that they already existed, they likely wouldn’t even be created in this day and age.

But even more than that, it’s worrisome based on what we’ve seen in other countries.

Jews aren’t known to completely take over sections of cities and prevent law enforcement from intervening. They aren’t known to set up patrols that intimidate people as we’ve seen. They aren’t known for demanding that their legal system be the one used in doling out justice for Muslims.

Muslims unfortunately bring a lot of baggage when it comes to this stuff and law enforcement and cities need to be careful in allowing these kind of Muslims patrols.

Unfortunately this is liberal New York, which is unlikely to have any issues with this whatsoever. I doubt they will even question why a group like this would even be needed in this day and age. They’ll just say ‘oh the Jews have their own group’ so go for it.
