NBC News is putting out a new story that is no doubt part of the continued attempt to undermine both Trump and hydroxychloroquine, the drug he’s been recommending for doctors and patients to try who have the coronavirus. And it comes from the HHS official who claims he was ‘ousted’ this week for pushing back against HCQ:
NBC NEWS – Top Health and Human Services official who said he was transferred from his post for pushing back on “efforts to fund potentially dangerous drugs promoted by those with political connections” felt pressured to rush access to chloroquine treatments for coronavirus after President Donald Trump had a conversation about it with a mega-rich donor, a source close to the doctor told NBC News.
Dr. Rick Bright said he was instructed to implement a national program aimed at expanding access to the drug without proper controls in place and despite the lack of peer-reviewed clinical data on the drug’s effectiveness following a conversation Trump had with Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, the source said.
Ellison sits on the White House economic recovery task force and is one of the president’s top supporters in the tech industry. The billionaire also hosted a big-money fundraiser for Trump at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif., in February. The New York Times reported on April 6 that “Mr. Trump first expressed interest in hydroxychloroquine a few weeks ago, telling associates that Mr. Ellison, a billionaire and a founder of Oracle, had discussed it with him.”
The president repeatedly touted the drug as a potential “game changer” in the battle against the coronavirus.
Ok first of all, so what? Either the drug works or it doesn’t work. I don’t care what Bright and his Christine Blasey Ford lawyers say.
Secondly, they make it sound nefarious that Trump spoke to Ellison about it, like there’s some other reason for Trump pushing the drug. But hydroxychloroquine has been in the news even before this, with South Korea using it successfully as well as France and China. Is NBC News really suggesting that Ellison is the sole reason why Trump is pushing the drug, because honestly that sounds preposterous.
And let’s not forget that Governor Cuomo has also been an advocate of this drug, ordering tons of it for use in New York because he says it works.
With all of the evidence that this drug works, it really amazes me (I know it shouldn’t) that the media is still trying to create controversy around it. There is no end to their TDS.
