Over 9,000 Allied troops were either killed or wounded during the D-Day operation at Normandy, France on this day in 1944, to fight back against Hitler’s German Army and because of great sacrifice and courage, would turn the tide of World War II:

This is a day that should live forever in the hearts and minds of all Americans and Europeans, as well as those around the world – as long as we continue to remember.
