New Santorum ad: Welcome to Obamaville

What will life in America be like in two years if Barack Obama is re-elected?

It’s a scary thought. Here’s hoping this Santorum ad series will be the closest we come to finding out.

MAN, this looks like the same Propaganda use by Hitler, and his cronies. What a shame,Why have Politics have come to use this kind of scare tactics? Why can’t the contestants talk about what they will do, or have done, instead of using fear and anguish to try and destroy the opponent with out actually having a plan they can publish?

Thanks to all for the day’s conversation. I’ll have to leave you to work out your own politics with fear and trembling. But, final notes: PapaLouie, Dave Forman is far outside the mainstream orbit, even among environmentalists. Some folks like to hear his provocative ideas, but almost no one shares those you mention. Prince Philip? He’s the UK’s problem, right? The Holdren comments were taken out of context from a book he co-wrote 30 years ago, and were all thoroughly vetted at his confirmation hearing. He does NOT advocate those positions, and in fact, while the book discussed them, it didn’t endorse them either. Mao? There is no evidence that the aid in question was ever a real Mao lover. Once again, it was a comment at a high school that Beck dug up and used out of context. In any case, that person hasn’t been with the White House… Read more »

I didn’t bring it up, K-bob. I was referring to this comment by WordsFailMe: “People still speculate about what the world would have been like if, in 1936, a German policeman had awoken one day and thought, 1Hitler is a criminal. I must protect the world.'”

Rather than go over all your lame points of reasoning (as I’m tired of wasting keyboard ink), I’ll say this. Everything you say can be associated to your thoughts that Obama is a ‘pretty good’ President and you have always liked Carter . That says a lot.

You are right in the fact that Carter and Obama have things in common. Most of what they have done is similar, Carter out of ignorance and Obama out of desire to ‘fundamentally transform’ this country. One thing is missing, though. Obama doesn’t have 444 days left for Iran to hold people hostage. But then, he’s more friendly toward Iran than Carter was, isn’t he?

Obama has led the way in organizing effective international sanctions against Iran. He’s not “friendly toward Iran.”

I was hoping for ads depicting the bleak and scary prospect of an extended future under O. This is the message that will defeat these dangerous utopians. We need more ads like this one – it unnerves merely by showing what a continued descent looks and feels like.

People on this blog really think that is a good ad? Scurrilous, outright deception, paranoid fearmongering, and that very, very nasty subliminal splice at the 40 second mark? The problem is that most Americans have begun to believe what they see with their own two eyes–that Obama is a fairly reasonable, personable, center-left president, and that the economy is beginning to recover–not the paranoid dystopian fantasies spun by Fox, Limbaugh, Santorum, etc. Most Americans don’t want an angry, mean-spirited bully for president, and they don’t want a Santorumville where your church dictates your insurance coverage and your kids are home schooled, either.

I didn’t call you anything. I called the ad a lot of things, and expressed shock that it is being cheered by posters on this blog. K-Bob

No, you simply supplied your own delusional idea instead. By every measure possible, Obama has proven to be the worst President in modern times. He makes Jimmy Carter look good, and that’s difficult to do in the best of circumstances.

The economy isn’t recovering. It’s stagnant. SOme businesses have managed to make profits, but they aren’t hiring beyond a replacement level in any notable way. Our nationalized union benefit company just had to stop production of the blazing new “Volt” because nobody who plans on staying uncooked wants one. So GM is not doing well.

The best hope you guys have is that Romney wins the nomination. Even that might not be enough.

What do you know about me? Certainly not enough to tag me as an example of what’s wrong with America. Also, I’m not opposed to home schooling, but I am opposed to privatizing public education, as Santorum seems to desire. The public schools were the only option my family had for me, and in fact the schools I attended in Texas were very good schools. Furthermore, the public schools my children have attended in Indiana and California have all been between very good and absolutely outstanding. Sure there are bad public schools, but they are the minority. Of course, attacks on the public school system that cut funding and undermine its reputation don’t help. The system we have, which combines the promise of public education to all who want it, while offering the option of private education or even home schooling to those who can afford it (either with $… Read more »

People like this ad because it is the truth. Right Scoopers know that socialism is a failed concept that leads to the poorhouse or the grave. America is waking up to the fact that Obama is left of center/left.
The economy is not recovering and people on this site know that Obama is an unreasonable ideologue (Keystone anyone?)
People on this site know that Obama and his administration are race baiters and hate mongers that want to divide people into classes.
People on this site don’t want ANYONE to dictate their insurance coverage, especially the government.(Obamaville?)
People home-school because the socialists educators are more concerned with passing on their twisted ideology than teaching the basics.

RGRoboman

First, Obama is not anywhere near being a socialist. I mean, basically his entire financial team came from Wall Street, some of them carryovers from GW. In a socialist state, the public, via its government, owns or controls virtually all of the means of production, and in an extreme case (communism), all property. Of all the world’s developed nations, America is among the least socialist. However, all states, especially developed states, recognize the importance of collective action in many areas, and of some regulation of private enterprise for the sake of fairness, consumer protection, and the common good. All of the developed nations, then, including the USA, are “mixed economies,” with relative degrees of public/private ownership or control. Most apply collective principles to health care, and get it cheaper and with better overall public health results than we do. But that doesn’t make them “socialist,” since even in places like… Read more »

Obama mmmm mmmm mmmm. Coming from the Socialist state that is Canada I know a commie when I see one. Just because Bush was a socialist lite and Obama has the same team of economic advisers doesn’t mean that Obama is not a socialist. His main push is always for the rich to pay more and for the poor to get something for nothing. Obama can claim bipartisanship all he likes as long as the republicans sit in the back of the car right? Obama is Big Government and believes that his gov’t can solve all problems. In Alberta Canada the cost for health care is pushing 50% of all gov’t spending. I do not have the right to go to a private clinic, or hospital. These costs do not give me drug or dental or optometrist or chiropractic or contraception etc. Emergency room waits are 4 to 5 hours… Read more »

His pragmatism extends only to his desire for partisan politics. ‘I think he has tried to bring people together‘ – Yep, he had a ‘beer summit’ because he foolishly said the Cambridge cops ‘acted stupidly’. I feel a bit sorry for the left. Their conundrum is how to get people to vote for them so they can carry out their plan to destroy prosperity and put the brakes on the “human cancer” that is infesting mother Gaia. Legalized abortion is working for them but it isn’t enough. They tried global cooling, then global warming. Now it’s “climate change”, which has both possibilities covered. What’s surprising is that their plan works at all. How many useful idiots are willing to keep the left in power to impoverish and enslave them for trumped up causes? The left has to make life miserable and expensive enough to convince people to stop reproducing. That is their ultimate goal because they see the human species as a parasite or germ infecting the earth. You might wonder why they would want to live in such a gloomy world themselves. The truth… Read more »

My God, I’m just speechless. That is so absurd, it would be hilarious if it weren’t for the fact that you apparently really think it’s true. Memo from reality: the left doesn’t believe that. ??? Better explanation for what? I simply stated the facts that (1) liberals and progressives do NOT want to destroy prosperity–they may differ with you on how to achieve and define prosperity, but they also want America and Americans to be prosperous; and (2) liberals and progressives do NOT think the human species is a parasite or germ infecting the earth. PapaLouie incorrectly stated that “the left” holds those views, and I correctly stated that it does not. So, my post had nothing to do with explaining a problem or phenomenon. Rather, it concerned correcting a false statement.

Tell me how putting our country in a larger debt than we have ever had is not going to kill our prosperity. (yes, Bush put us in debt too, but he isn’t president anymore). Now, you are no longer attributing to the left an intent to destroy and the belief that humans are infectious germs. So, I think your argument now is an argument that two people can have–you think that the left’s policies will in fact destroy prosperity. I disagree, but it’s a rational argument that two people can have. Second, you think that the left behaves in a parasitic way. I disagree, but again, it’s a rational argument that two people can have. Re: specifics. 1) “you will dismiss the argument at the drop of a hat.” Santorum’s ad is shameful, and, as I said, the ad noted as a left-wing counterpart is wrong, too. You don’t seem to be able to criticize your own side of the argument. I can. 2) “More revenue does not necessarily mean increased taxes.” Supply side (reduce rates to increase revenue) didn’t work under Harding/Mellon, under Stockman/Reagan, or under GW & his crew. That’s because it doesn’t work. 3) “http://aolanswers.com/question” An AOL reader response blog is your authoritative source? 4) “you would know the inside workings of this operation how?” All parties agree that the program was intended to trace guns back to the Mexican drug lords, so that they could be busted. 5) “You’re not familiar with the cases, but you know they’re doing well.” Is deliberately misinterpreting people’s comments like a tic with you or something? I suppose you would call Dave Forman, founder of “Earth First!”, a radical. He said: “Phasing out the human race will solve every problem on earth, social and environmental.” How about Prince Phillip when he headed the World Wildlife Fund: “If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.” Then there is John Holdren who is Obama’s Science Czar. He co-authored the book “Ecoscience”, where he described the need for population controls that included involuntary mass sterlization, forced abortions, and a “Planetary Regime” with the power to control the global economy. Sometimes when I wake up and start reading the news, it feels like I have awakened in that world where George Bailey was never born in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” It looks like the world they show in this video. People still speculate about what the world would have been like if, in 1936, a German policeman had awoken one day and thought, “Hitler is a criminal. I must protect the world.” Or if Lenin had looked at the young Stalin and said, “I’m sending this moron to Mexico,” or MAO had been drafted by the Lakers or maybe if Castro got terminal jungle rot or maybe a certain Honolulu bar had been closed that day…

The problem is that the news you read in the morning is giving you a false, distorted, alarmist view of the world. And the implications you are drawing–that a disastrous future can only be avoided by eliminating Obama–is dangerous and delusional. Yet, it does follow “logically” from hateful, fear-mongering ads like the one just produced by Santorum. For God’s sake, wake up from your right-wing intoxication.

When they buy the lie that the right is racist and stupid, then they think they can argue as though lecturing idiots. They have no idea the level of education it takes to understand economics as the founders did. Or to investigate the origins of rights versus governance, or follow enough history to see the patterns repeating. They don’t seem to try to make coherent, logical statements from these rants of strung-together talking points.

We’re just all racist haters. That’s pretty much the entire argument.

Personally, I think it’s time to throw the raaacist meme right back in their faces. Can it be any clearer now who the racists are? Conservatives will never see the day when we are as bigoted, intolerant, & exclusionary as these people. It is classic projection. With us, it’s an accusation. With them- now, we have a whole stack of hard facts. And it’s growing- today, now. They don’t appear to try & make coherent, logical arguments because there’s no coherent logic *there*. They try to wear their target down by repeating the same (geez, it’s not usually even a logical fallacy. It’s just crap) stuff over & over until someone gets fed up & walks away. You know? I used to think that a bicameral system was a good thing, in many ways.
We used to be a reasonably civilized country, with leaders who had the country’s best interests at heart (& something that remotely resembled common sense & decency. At least at work/ in public)
At this point…I don’t want to say what I think on a public forum. The left is inflamed enough already. I don’t want to “feed” them & I don’t want to tip them off.

I just hope people aren’t thinking “oh no, it can’t be” because that’s the most dangerous thing we can do, imho.

Bicameral isn’t perfect, but unicameral is mob rule. That’s what happened to the French revolution. They were big on Liberty for a few months. Then somehow it became a mob-ocracy.

He forgot to mention the freezing people in winter who won’t be able to heat their homes, but it was a good ad and, unfortunately, possible.

It is a good ad.
I believe that it is a bit of a play on Potterville from “It’s a Wonderful Life”. I rather like Obama as old man Potter.

I like him more as Stalin or Mao. On my dead computer, I had saved a pic of Varketili (in Tbilisi, Soviet Georgia) from when the 0care debate was going on at Fire Dog Lake (a Jonathan Gruber shill posted “sell your house & rent…sell your car & ride ‘public transportation’. Or ride a bicycle [to afford health ins]”)
That is the real, stark truth of Obama.

Dang it, sDee. Give a warning before the link, please. Scared the daylights out of me. I almost fell out of my chair, reaching for my gun. smile

Effective ad but would have been better if he had done life in obamaville and life without obama. Thriving businesses, people working, good health care etc.

This ad really gets to the point. If we get another 4yrs. of O, there will be no such thing as term limit!

Wow! Wow! Great ad, but I’m afraid there are already obamavilles all around this nation. I hope Santorum comes out with a 2nd part to show how he will help restore things.

That would be cool, show people what America can be without, I will use your term, dear leader in office. Very effective ad.
