NEW swing state poll shows Clinton and Trump in a VIRTUAL TIE

In a new Monmouth poll released today Hillary Clinton holds a small lead over Donald Trump in the swing state of Nevada, which isn’t really much of a lead when you take into account the poll’s margin of error:

BLOOMBERG – Hillary Clinton holds a 4-ppt lead over Donald Trump in Nevada, 45% to 41%, in the race for the swing state’s 6 electoral votes, according to Monmouth University Poll.

  • Clinton leads among likely women voters, 53% to 38%, Trump ahead among likely men voters, 44% to 37%
  • White voters prefer Trump by 49% to 37%, while Hispanic, black and Asian voters choose Clinton by 64% to 23%
  • Libertarian Gary Johnson backed by 5% in overall sample
  • In contest for Senate seat Democrat Harry Reid giving up, Republican Joe Heck has edge over Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, 42% to 40%
  • Poll taken July 7-10 of 408 likely Nev. voters, margin of error +/- 4.9 ppts for entire sample
  • NOTE: President Obama carried Nev. vs. Mitt Romney in 2012, 52% to 46%

What isn’t mentioned in this brief summary is that an additional 4 percent chose the “none of these candidates” option, according to Politico.

One thing you should note, this small lead by Hillary is within the almost 5 point margin of error, which really makes this a virtual tie.

You should also notice that this poll was conducted after the Benghazi report and the FBI non-indictment recommendation of Hillary.
