New video emerges of the first Kenosha shooting at car lot involving teenager with rifle

A new video has emerged of the first shooting in Kenosha on Tuesday night involving the teenager with the rifle. We wrote about this yesterday and, based on the initial video, said it looked as though the teen, named Kyle Rittenhouse, was being chased before he ended up shooting a man in the head. That man, now deceased, was 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum.

Well now we have even more evidence that Rittenhouse was being pursued in the form of a new video that has come out:

The Daily Wire notes:

The video shows Rosenbaum throwing what appears to be a bottle and chasing the shooter through a parking lot. As the pair run behind two parked vehicles, a shot can be heard. The two emerge with Rosenbaum still chasing the shooter and several more shots can be heard before Rosenbaum falls to the pavement, purportedly after being shot in the head. Several more shots can be heard before the shooter circles back and appears to make a phone call before jogging away.

The video is chaotic, but that seems to be what I saw as well.

Regarding that first shot, the New York Times did their own analysis of the initial video located the muzzle flash of the first shot, which they say was someone shooting in the air:

I went back and watched the video I posted of this yesterday and indeed I do see the muzzle flash exactly where they put it. Here’s what the NY Times says about this first shooting:

About 15 minutes before the first shooting, police officers drive past Mr. Rittenhouse, and the other armed civilians who claim to be protecting the dealership, and offer water out of appreciation.

Mr. Rittenhouse walks up to a police vehicle carrying his rifle and talks with the officers.

He eventually leaves the dealership and is barred by the police from returning. Six minutes later footage shows Mr. Rittenhouse being chased by an unknown group of people into the parking lot of another dealership several blocks away.

While Mr. Rittenhouse is being pursued by the group, an unknown gunman fires into the air, though it’s unclear why. The weapon’s muzzle flash appears in footage filmed at the scene.

Mr. Rittenhouse turns toward the sound of gunfire as another pursuer lunges toward him from the same direction. Mr. Rittenhouse then fires four times, and appears to shoot the man in the head.

It isn’t much, but it appears to be a fair representation of what happened. So even based on their analysis, Rittenhouse appears to be defending himself from Rosenbaum.

In related news regarding Rittenhouse, the NY Post found photos of him trying to clean graffiti before the shooting:

The NY Times also noted in their analysis:

Multiple posts on his social media accounts proclaim support for pro-police causes like the Blue Lives Matter movement and Humanize the Badge, a nonprofit that he ran a Facebook fund-raiser for on his 16th birthday.

His posts also suggest a strong affinity for guns, with videos showing Mr. Rittenhouse taking backyard target practice, posing with guns and assembling a weapon.

In other words Rittenhouse seems like a pro-law enforcement kid who likely went to Kenosha to protect property, as has already been reported. Hopefully this new video will help to vindicate him from the first degree murder charge from his arrest yesterday.
