New York just made it HARDER to purchase a gun…

New York’s war on the Second Amendment continues with new legislation that will make it harder for some to protect themselves with the purchase of a gun, especially if they are in fear of their lives. It all depends on the federal instant background check system working like it’s supposed to work. If it fails to give someone an instant result, as it has many times, they will now have to wait 30 days to purchase a gun:

FOX NEWS – A new law in New York extends the waiting period for certain gun purchases from three days to 30 days.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the law Monday and it takes effect in September.

Under existing federal law, gun dealers must wait three days before completing a sale if someone is not instantly approved by the federal National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

The sale could proceed even if the background check was not finished.

New York gun buyers will now have to wait 30 days for the background check.

Cuomo and Democratic lawmakers said the extended background check will give law enforcement the time it needs to complete a thorough investigation, Syracuse.com reported.

“Stronger background checks will help keep guns away from dangerous people,” said Sen Michael Ginaris, D-Queens, Senate sponsor of the bill.

I’ve purchased several rifles since 2016 and I’ve never had the instant background system give me an ‘instant’ result. In fact one time I used a pistol purchase permit, which also works for long guns in NC, just to get around the background check system because it put me on hold…again.

People shouldn’t have to wait 30 days to purchase a gun just because the instant background system fails to work properly. And contrary to what Democrats in New York say, this won’t keep guns away from dangerous people. Dangerous people will either steal guns or buy stolen guns on the black market if they can’t legitimately buy one in a store.

No, this will only hurt law abiding people who seek to live their lives in peace.
