New York Post slams de Blasio as betraying New York Police after he promises to partially defund NYPD

The New York front cover this morning torches Mayor de Blasio for betraying police after promising to partially defund the NYPD and send that money to ‘youth programs’:

As the Post points out in the blurb, de Blasio earlier refused to defund the NYPD. But now, because the crowd is calling for him to resign, he’s flip flopping and promising to cut the budget, while nearly 300 officers have been injured trying to keep the peace.

It’s absolutely a betrayal of police, but it’s also a betrayal of the members of his city who will surely suffer as the NYPD loses staffing and funding.

De Blasio explained this on CNN this morning, saying the funding will go to keep young people away from negative influences and crime, but they NYPD will still be able to keep people safe:

In other words De Blasio is trying to turn the city into ‘mommy and daddy’ because too many kids are out on the streets while their single parents are working to make ends meet. It’s the result of removing God from society, leading to the rejection of morality and thus the breakdown of the family, leading to chaos on city streets as kids get involved in gangs for protection and thus crime and violence.

And now the entire city will suffer as funding that should go to the NYPD is diverted into these ‘youth programs’ to try and save the youth.

The truth is that New York City is in a far better place in terms of crime than it used to be thanks to Giuliani, but you can expect the city to regress backward as de Blasio begins defunding the police so he can keep his job.
