Apparently the NFL owners are meeting today to discuss what to do about the players who want to protest during the national anthem before games, and one very controversial suggestion was leaked.
Per sources, one anthem idea being discussed: Leaving it up to home team on whether teams come out for the anthem; if teams do come out for the anthem, potential that teams could be assessed 15-yard penalties for kneeling.

WOW. LOL!!
I love football and I thought the protests were very ill-considered, but this would just toss gas on the fire, and there’s NO WAY it’s gonna happen because the owners do NOT want a choose a side here. This would just alienate the left-wing side of the NFL’s fanbase.
That didn’t keep everyone from FREAKING OUT over it:
OK, here it is: The worst idea. https://t.co/exFyZ5faUW

Imagine a room of billionaires deciding it makes more sense to literally change the rules of football than acknowledge that maybe police officers shouldn't kill as many black people as they do https://t.co/OIu3AFOrNw

Imagine business owners determining that they don’t want their employees destroying their business through stupid protests.

I can't think of a worse idea but I'm sure the NFL will find it https://t.co/jHsPKZi7i0

Is this a contest for the worst possible idea? https://t.co/zZU2fEL9Ob

"Hey, NFL. I have a brilliant idea!"

"What is it, Junior?"
"Let's punish an off-field action unrelated to the game with an in-game penalty!"
"You're fired."
Even as a guy that doesn't agree with kneeing during the anthem, this is a really stupid idea. Total idiocy. https://t.co/0Dx7eVtGX7
Better be a short discussion. That is industrial-strength stupid. https://t.co/dqPytqbsul

Whine whine whine. It’s not gonna happen. But they SHOULD ban protests. Let the players protest on their own time, not the team’s time, when it’s forcing their fellow players to have to take a stand on politics. Go be a left-wing jackass when you’re not representing a city, a region, and millions of fans.
