Nick Cannon has just been fired for ViacomCBS for promoting anti-Semitism:
SYRACUSE – Actor and TV host Nick Cannon has been fired by ViacomCBS over anti-Semitic comments made on his podcast.
Variety reports Cannon came under fire for pushing anti-Semitic conspiracy theories involving the Rothschild family on a June 30 episode of “Cannon’s Class.” During an interview with former Public Enemy member Professor Griff on racial bias, Cannon said Black people are the “true Hebrews.”
“It’s never hate speech, you can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people,” Cannon said. “When we are the same people who they want to be. That’s our birthright. We are the true Hebrews.”
“ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism”
ViacomCBS, which has worked with Cannon on shows like Nickelodeon’s “All That” and MTV/Vh1′s “Wild ‘N Out,” said early Wednesday it was terminating its relationship with him.
“ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism,” the company said. “We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him.”
Cannon, also known for hosting “The Masked Singer” on Fox and previously “America’s Got Talent” on NBC, is planning to launch a syndicated daytime talk show this September. It’s unclear if any ViacomCBS properties were planning on airing it.
I would imagine that since ViacomCBS is firing him, then others like Fox will probably follow suit. At least that’s how it seems to work for some in Hollywood.
I’m actually impressed that they condemned it so strongly. If you remember back when Pelosi was dealing with her own anti-Semitic problems with Ilhan Omar, she refused to take a stand like this.
