Liberal commentator Krystal Ball isn’t known for her intelligence, or honesty, and that was on full display on CNN with Smerconish this morning when she defended socialism by completely forgetting what Democratic policies are.
At about the 1:50 minute mark, she says that no one is talking about seizing the means of production:

That is, generally, what is considered to be at the heart and definition of socialism. But just because no one is specifically saying those words doesn’t mean that Democratic policies are against it. Many of us on the right would argue that over-regulation and taxation is exactly how the government encroaches on the means of production in this country.
But that’s the weaker argument I could make. The stronger argument to prove that Democrats are actually advocating for seizing the means of economic production is called HAVE YOU SEEN THE GREEN NEW DEAL?!?! That utterly insane document talks about completely taking over energy production in order to shut down carbon emissions, AND they refer to completely replacing every building in America. I guess you can argue that this isn’t technically seizing the means of production but it’s pretty damn close, and it’s not anything that any freedom-lovin’ Merican wants!!!
And, what’s more, Smerconish, who fancies himself a conservative, didn’t call her out on it at all….
